My 2nd Pregnancy - Week 34

It has been so long that I didn't update my blog. Guess what? I'm entering my 34th week of pregnancy and my life is pretty occupied with Ethan now. Can't imagine when our little princess is born.

37 Weeks of Pregnancy

OMG! Ethan's weight really increases 200gm / week. He is 3.1kg now. Dr. Liu checked and confirmed that his head is not engaged yet. Hence, he also can't induce me too. So what are the percentage for me undergoing vaginal delivery? His answer is only 20%. He said I can try and if failed, I can always turn to c-section. The additional cost is not much, about RM 150.

Hmm... I think Ethan is a very obedient boy. Actually I'm the one has been telling him that I was not ready till Week 38. I told him that I was busy chasing sales, interview, taking pregnancy portraits, etc. He heard me! Hehe....from now on, I should start telling him that it is time for him to say "Hello" to the world. If possible, next week because Dr. Liu will not be around from 30 Sept - 9 Oct. If Dr. Vincent has an operation, then I'll be handled by another on-call Dr. Besides, Hubby B is going to Bangkok business trip on 30 Sept. So I really hope that Ethan boy can cooperate with Mummy ya. Gambate!

Pregnancy Portraits

Hubby B has engaged Max to take pregnancy portraits for me this Sun's morning. 830am! OMG! I'm not an early person but what to do! Just get up and prepare myself! Hmm.... Any idea what are the poses to pose on the day?

Personally, we prefer B&W and natural styles. So the above are few of our favourites! Do you like it?

My Prenatal Yoga Class

My prenatal yoga class has ended in my 37 weeks of pregnancy. I have been enjoying the class very much with Caroline. She has been very supportive and giving me lots of advice & courage throughout my pregnancy journey. Hope I will have the chance to continue my post natal class with her. Thanks Caroline.

Am I delivering soon? Haha... it is very much depends on this week checkup. If Dr. Liu confirmed that baby size is ok, then maybe we will plan for induce labor after Raya holidays. Though I'm worry, but just lets nature take its course!

36 Weeks of Pregnancy

We made it for another week. It was rather a busy week for me. Basically, I went to get my sales done, bring my clients for lunch, send them moon cakes & say goodbye to them. So, budget has hit till max! Hehe.... $$$$! Hope it is sufficient to last me till I get another new job.

Oh ya! Hubby B and I have been giving a deep thought and consideration for the past 1 week. We have come to the conclusion to have Susana to take care of our baby. Why have we changed our plan? Hmm.... partly I guess she has be with us (I would say more to Hubby B's family) for so many years and she is quite attach to our family too. Besides, we also do not wish to see her lost of her job as she has a family to feed in Indonesia. Thirdly, we can go holidays with a peace of mind without worrying that our mum do not wanna help us picking up our baby. :)

Hence, Hubby & I have spoken to her during her visit today. Well, we have laid out our concerns to her and she accepted it happily.
  1. She must go for her fibroid checkup. If it still exist, she must go for operation to remove it out. We need a healthy maid rather than she fainted half way when taking care of baby.

  2. She is the only one responsible in taking care our baby. We do not want 2 maids to take care of baby because if anything did happen, we do not know who is the one to blame on.

  3. She must not go out as she wishes to and left the baby with Eeyos. If she needs to go out, she must make sure that one of our family member is in the house. Oh... Eeyos is a blur queen & she is not alert enough. So we do not want her to take care of baby at all.

  4. For hygiene purposes, we have told her strictly not to touch Flame for the first 8-12 months. We do not know how well is baby health development system & we also worry of his allergic reaction towards its furs & mites.
The decision has made and we shall have faith on Susana. Maybe for the first few months, we will monitor and spot check her on and off. After all, we trust that she could perform a good job. Else, we will have no choice but to send our baby to babysitter d.

Our 1st Year Anniversary

Times fly so fast. We were married for a year! Throughout the year, I do not deny that we have misunderstanding and argument. However, we discussed it and tried to understand each other point of views. We accepted & respected as who we are!

We are lucky that we share the same thoughts most of the time. Hubby B has been very supportive all this while, especially when I'm preggo. His patience, love and care is filled fully in my little heart. I'm fortunate to have him as my lovely Hubby B. Thanks BB!

So how did we celebrate our anniversary? No fancy gifts for each other. We just enjoyed the 2 together times. So we chose to have a 3-course dinner with wine at Olio, Renaissance Melaka.

Before entering the restaurant.......... The ambiance and deco is cozy and beautiful.

The extremely heavy menu!

Hubby B is placing the order.

While waiting for the food to be served, we have some fresh from oven breads to fill up our stomach. Hey try dipping it with vinegar & olive oil. You will love it!

The starter for Hubby!

Chicken Chowder Soup for me!

We also ordered a Wild Mushroom Bruschetta to try.

Pizza Margheritta. The crust is thin & crispy. Too bad, it was not with the pineapple topping.

Fettuccini Carbonara. Hmmm... if the fettuccini can be cooked a little longer, then it will be a perfect one!

Chocolate Moose for BB. The chocolate is thick and I love it very much!

Ice-cream with fruits. Nothing to shout about!

Before leaving the restaurant, we have asked the waiter to take a photo for us. :)

35 Weeks of Pregnancy

Baby Ethan is weighing at 2.6kg! What? 300gm increased since last week checkup! Mummy's weight dropped 100gm from the week 32 checkup. All the nutrients have gone to baby Ethan?

If Ethan's weight is going to increase 200gm per week & there are 5 more weeks to go, then by full term, Ethan shall be weighing at 3.6kg. Dr. Liu looked at me smilingly & asked if I would wanna induce myself in week 38. He is worrying that Ethan's size is too big for me if I wanna go for vaginal delivery! Huh? Induced labor? Isn't it painful? Will I distress Ethan and ended up with c-section? With his size, I'm also worrying that I will have episiotomy! So many questions popping in my mind. Anyway, Dr. Liu will further access in next 2 weeks checkup.

Ethan boy, lets pray hard that your weight will not increase so much in the next few weeks. Then mummy will not suffer so much during the labor. Remember the promises we have made to each other?

34 Weeks of Pregnancy

Dad's CABG was a successful one! However, his hospitalization has been prolong due to his fever and also his uncontrollable glucose reading (he has been put on insulin injection now). Mum & brother gotta take care of him over there, especially my poor mum. Dad wanted her to accompany him most of the nights. We were so worried that she couldn't take it due to her health condition. Surprisingly, she is coping it quite well.

Well, I'm getting tired each day, especially my back. The frequent visits to the loo are also made me quite frustrated because it has directly affected my rest as well. But I have also keep on reinforce my message to Ethan that he must wait till at least Week 38. So we both have to bear for another 4 weeks ya. Haha.... Sigh... pregnancy is never an easy task!

Oh ya, while working at Klinik A'Famosa, Dr. Gwee has performed a thorough ultrasound for us with his latest machine. He was so detailed and patience exploring baby Ethan. Lets see the following few pics!

Baby Ethan's little foots.

Part of his face. He likes to hide under my placenta.

His heartbeats.

33 Weeks of Pregnancy

It was a stressful week. My dad undergone his CABG surgery. It was so torturing to wait for the operation done. He was in the operation theater for almost 7 hours. I felt so relieved after getting the phone call from my brother that the surgery was a successful one. Phew........... I sincerely thank to everyone of you for the prayers and concerns given to my dad.

While my mum is not around & KJ's parents have to work, I helped to take care of Kai Jun every afternoon. In fact, he is quite easy to taking care of. He even told me that I'm his "Lao Po" (wife) when BB is not around. Haha...

My backache and pelvic pain is getting severe as the weeks progress, especially when I get up from the bed. However, I just have to bear with it for another 4-6 weeks. BB did massage me. It did not really help to ease the pain but I can feel the sweetness and thoughtfulness he is giving to me. Thanks BB.

32 Weeks of Pregnancy

Nothing much to blog about this week pregnancy. Basically, I'm doing well except that I'm suffering from a moderate backache whenever I get out from the bed.

I decided to share with Baby Ethan about his Grandpa (my Dad) story here.

Hi Ethan Boy,

Mummy was born in a middle-class family. I'm the only girl & I have one elder brother & one younger brother. Grandpa pampers Mummy since young. Whenever I requested, I got it, especially during my birthday and also when I scored good results in school. If I were to compare with my brothers, I'm the most lucky one among them. Everything seems to change after Grandpa left Wellcome (Ethan, Grandpa was an excellent sales person & he got many awards during his years of service with Wellcome)! He started mini market business with his buddy. However, due to the poor management, the business was winded up few years later with debts. Grandpa sold off his car and change to old junk car. We felt so shameful initially but we also accepted it with an open heart later. Grandma did some home-based jobs to ease the financial status. I remembered 3 of us used to help Grandma stick the t-shirt logos & she ironed it. She also accepted some sewing jobs from the neighbour. She even babysit 2 babies before. We also worked some part time jobs during school semester break. However, they always made sure that we paid our education & school bus fees on-time.

Ever since then, Grandpa has changed few jobs till he settled at Unilever. With stable income, Grandpa's drinking habit was worsen. He drank and gambled! Over the years, his credit card bills have piled up! We received many calls from the banks & we were so fade up. What's more? He even borrowed money from others. We helped him to settle his debts here and there. Mummy's brothers was totally disappointed till they wanna disown Grandpa as their father. Anyway, with much persuasion and also his health condition, we have asked him to come back home. We have forgiven him except for my elder brother. I know that he is still trying his best to accept him. Anyway, lets forget the past.

Grandpa is going for his bypass surgery this Thursday. Everyone is worry as nobody will know what is the outcome of the surgery. I have told him to stay positive as Baby Ethan will wanna say Hi to his Grandpa soon. Even then, the post surgery care is even more critical. We hope that Grandma & Uncle Ken will stay strong to accompany Grandpa through the entire days. Daddy, Mummy and Ethan will continue to give our supports to Grandpa by sending our regards to him everyday till he comes back to our home again!

32 Weeks of Pregnancy

Wow... after pumping myself with lots of food for the past 1 month, Ethan's weight increased tremendously; from 1kg to 1.9kg. Mummy also increased by 2.2kg to 53kg now. Phew... I think that is enough! Dr. Vincent also advised me to control my food intake already. Else I might have difficulties when it comes to vaginal delivery.

We managed to see part of Ethan's face because he was hiding underneath my placenta. Hubby teased that Ethan's nose looks like me (wide) and I told him that his mouth looks like him (small and thin). Anyway, he is our precious one and of course he looks like us!

Shortness of Breath

I feel that I'm not getting enough of oxygen nowadays. Whenever I walked or climbed out the stairs, I feel so breathless. With the recent H1N1 outbreaks, I'm even more worry! Partly it is due to the nature of my works and also my risk as I'm in my 3rd trimester now. The diaphragm is being pushing upward by the little one & has decreased my lung capacity. Hence, this makes respiratory disease more dangerous. Hmmm... just pray hard that Ethan & Mummy will be safe from the pandemic flu.

Vaginal Delivery

During my early pregnancy, I told myself that I will go for C-section rather than normal delivery due to the pain and complication that we might be facing. Few months down the road, I changed my mind. I communicated with Baby Ethan that both of us should try hard for vaginal delivery but with the help of Epidural Analgesia. Since then, I encourage him now and then when we have the 2 of us time together.

But then again, I'm scare & worry to be alone in the labor room. Hubby B will not be accompanying me throughout the process because he has blood phobia. Sigh.... I just have to make sure that I'll be calm and brave on the D-Day so that I can deliver Baby Ethan safely and healthily. Ethan, we shall "Jia Yu! Jia Yu & Jia Yu!" Hey... not now ya! Mummy & Ethan have made a promise that you should be saying "Hello" at least in Week 38, ok. Daddy, we shall deserve a big hug from you once we see you!

30 Weeks of Pregnancy

I celebrated my 34th birthday with Ethan this year though he is still well keep in my womb right now. I hope he enjoyed every celebration that Mummy had; be it with my Hubby B, my PIL, my friends & also my family.

The 1st celebration started of with Hubby B! We had it at Kokiya Japanese Restaurant. He has given me a sweet Naraya handbag. I love it very much. Thanks BB.

Then on 27th July, I received a sms from Dad early in the morning. Hmm.... Dad mistaken that it was my birthday. Haha... He gave me an ang pao which I was quite reluctant to receive it initially. However, he said that it is a blessing for me and Ethan. Thanks Pa.

This is the 1st year I celebrated my birthday with my PIL & SIL officially! PIL spent me a scrumptious dinner at Wok & Pan Restaurant. I ordered the BBQ Pork Ribs & the portion was huge. Of course, I couldn't finished it though I'm eating for 2. Thanks PaPa & MaMa.

On the D-day, something caught my attention when I opened my room door. Hey.. it is a nicely made birthday card with a box of Kiehl's products from my SIL. I have yet to try it because there are so precious and expensive. Thanks Cheng Leng.

This year I just wished to have a small celebration with my friends. So, Liza, Sam & my brother has organized a steamboat lunch for me. Gladys didn't join us because she was having training in KL. But we met up on the next day with Kelvin for a McD lunch. Oh ya, back to our steamboat lunch. We had it at "Tong Sheng Yuan" at Melaka Raya. He was a chef from Restaurant Fat Lee & there are many artists who had visited the restaurant before. However, the steamboat was on the average side. They also bought me a Mango Cake. The Cake is yummy and it was not very sweet. Thanks my friends!

SIL or I should said Straits Pharmacy spent me a delicious dinner too. We packed few dishes from Golden Mansion Restaurant. The food served this round was not up to our expectation. Could it be cooked by another chef? The baked crabs was a bit over cooked as the meat was not very juicy. However, I enjoyed the dinner very much with my family. Kai Jun was the most happy one because he always like to see everyone in the family gather together. He even asked me to stay longer to play with him. Haha... Naughty boy!

Oh ya, Mummy gave me another ang pao too. The wishes were the same as Dad that I'll have a safe delivery & a healthy baby. Thanks Mi!

I always enjoyed my birthday a lot. This is the day that I'll pamper myself. I can't imagine will I still be able to enjoy this day next year when Ethan is around? I bet I will! Thanks everyone!

29 Weeks of Pregnancy

I'm entering my 29 weeks of pregnancy now. 30, 31, 32,......38, 39 & 40! D-day is getting nearer. What is my feeling now? Frankly speaking, I don't know. Chin Nee asked about my birth plan the other day. I was blurred for a while. What birth plan are you talking about? Then she started telling me that I could opt for hypnobirthing, dim lights setting, music, etc. When you are so much in pain during that moment, will those stuffs actually help you into deep relaxation? But for sure, I will request Epidural for my labor.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been experiencing some weird feelings around my uterus / cervix?? Hmmm... It is like pulse rhythm but it is much stronger. It wasn't pain at all. I would say it is uncomfortable. Was it a contraction? Hey Ethan, you can't come out now, ok. I kept telling him to wait till Weeks 38 onwards. Hope he got Mummy's message. Haha..

Babysitter vs Maids

Do you enjoy your pregnancy? Frankly speaking, I do & I don't sometimes. I remembered that my best friend, Ginn did asked me a question after my marriage. "Are you prepared to have a baby?" I told her that of course I'm prepared for it & I even stressed when my menses reported to me each month!

I understood what Ginn was trying to tell me now. Yes, from the day I conceived till now, I was like riding on a roller coaster. The stress can be much more greater than achieving my sales budget. I was stressed out with lots of issues; be it my condition, our relationship & also our baby. Worse still, when Hubby B is working in KL. Sometimes, when I really need him, he is not with me. By the time we meet in the weekend, I have lost some of the interests to share or I have forgotten what to tell him already.

My friends used to assume that Hubby B is a Mummy's Boy. But they were wrong. He never is & in fact, he has very strong characters; which sometimes I have to accept him as he is. As I'm staying with my PIL, sometimes things can be quite complicated depending on how you looking at it. When issues arise, who will you side to? Justice? If both parties are at fault, you can tell your Hubby off. But do you have the guts to tell your PIL that they were wrong too? I bet not many DIL dare to do so. Seriously, BB & MIL are time bombs because you will never know when is the next explosion going to be?

So when my SIL blogged about me on Pregnancy-Related Decison, I knew that certain of our decisions have already annoyed our PIL. We understand their care & concern to us & Baby Ethan. Indeed, we appreciated it very much. It is true (BB told me so). In return, we also care for them a lot. For instance, we decided to engage a confinement lady during my confinement period. MIL did not agree with the idea as we have a maid to help out. However, we worry that we can't cope with it. Maid needs to do her house chores & I need ample rest. Then when it comes to night care, we rather have the CL to take care of the baby because of MIL's health condition. We wants her to have a peaceful mind so that she can play with her grandson without much worries.

The most recent one should be The 2 maids issue. Again, we discussed and agreed to get a babysitter to take care of Ethan. We found the babysitter before the old maid requested to come back to work for us again. Since PIL trusted Susana so much & we also have a new contract maid, PIL has proposed to us to let one of the maid to take care of baby Ethan.

Initially, I do not really agree with the idea. I laid off my concerns to MIL. For me, cleanliness & hygiene, especially around baby is vital. They can develop minor illness & become ill very quickly. We have a puppy at home & Susana loves to let her wonder around the house. Well, I'll prefer to place it outside the house than letting her in the house because she pees and poops as she likes. Yes, I do not deny that having mild infections in early life can protect against some illness later, but according to the doctors, animals may trigger asthma too. So prevention is always better. No one would wanna see a baby suffers with all the medication, nebulizer & also hospitalization right?

If Susana can comply to this basic request, I do not mind for the maids to take care of Ethan. After another round of discussion with BB, he still prefer to send Ethan to babysitter. Following are his 3 main concerns:

  1. He analyzed the 2 maids. Though Eus is soft spoken and obedient, her awareness level is quite low. So for her to take care of Ethan, she might not inform us immediately if baby is having any sudden sickness. Though Susana is a much smarter one, she might has her way of doing things. When things go wrong, she will not admit it. Moreover, she loves going out. What if one fine day, Eus will runaway with Ethan? Nobody knows right?

  2. He said that he will only let the maids handle Ethan if MIL is willing to stay home. He needs someone to supervise / monitor the maids. Aiyo... it is kind of difficult to get MIL to stay at home right? Again, as a DIL, this is not within my authority to tell her so.

  3. He agreed that to get a good babysitter is depending on our luck as well. But he trusts that babysitter can perform a much better job than maids; in term of handling baby related issues. At least for the first year when baby's health development is critical.
Sigh... I'm caught in dilemma now. MIL kept selling the benefits of having the maids to take care of the baby & BB insisted to have a babysitter. If Susana never comes back, we believe that this will not be an issue right?

27 & 28 Weeks of Pregnancy

It was rather busy weeks for us. I was on duty for 2 days in PJ. Though it was tiring, but I enjoyed the days very much. Mainly bacause our company is closing soon and we cherished the moments of getting together. Besides, I had a good shopping too. I ended up buying most of my stuffs than baby Ethan's one. Haha....

In week 27, baby Ethan's weight was at 1kg, which is normal. He was in the anterior posture so Dr. Vincent failed to capture his face. For this mummy, my weight only increased for another 1kg. So total increase is only 6kg. Is this increment normal?

Glass Feeding Bottles

I remembered that my mum fed my younger brother with glass feeding bottles when he was a baby. In fact, most of the olden days mother practiced the same way too. In the 80's and 90's, the trend has switched to plastic feeding bottles again. The reasons are glass bottle is heavy & fragile. It may break during late night feeding. Moreover, you can never let you growing baby have the ease to learn to self-feed because the weight of the glass hinders him to prop the bottle up all by himself.

For quite sometime, nursing mothers have made plastic bottles their top choice because of the durability and practicability. However, due to certain health issues with plastic manufacture, glass baby bottles have made a big come back. For example, Biphenol A (BPA) was known to be hazardous to infants most especially causing health problems like cancer and hormone system change. I have posted few links below for your further reference.

As a new mother-to-be, I have known my priorities for my baby Ethan at the moment. Glass bottles will be my choice. It does not retain odor after soap wash & does not pose any health hazards to baby. When our baby starts to learn holding his bottle, then I'll switch it to BPA free feeding bottles. What do you think of this idea?

Braxton Hicks Contractions

Seriously, I do not know what do Braton Hicks Contractions feel like! I was awaken by a very uncomfortable pain in the middle of Thursday night. My abdomen and my lower back were in pain! My uterus was hard. Suddenly I felt a sensation of dizziness & I wanted to throw out too. I wanted to go down the bed but was worried I may faint! I really freaked out because I didn't know what was happening. I thought I was going into premature labor or worse. I told myself to relax by taking in few deep breathing exercise.

The pain still persist & I slowly walked to the toilet. I hold my phone with me in case that I need help from my family. However, I was relieved after seeing there are no signs of blood or watery discharge on my panty liner. I went to my bed again & I started to communicate to Ethan. As I talked to him, I fall into my wonderland again................ So is this what you called a BHC?

25 & 26 Weeks of Pregnancy

My PUPPP is much better after taking Piriton 4mg & also frequent Olive Oil application. Though the itch is spreading to the back and buttock but it is much more bearable compared to the initial attack! At least I can have a peaceful night nowadays.

Ethan is getting active each day. You can feel his movements very often. He is also very responsive when I played the music for him. Sometimes, I will play with him by tickling him. Haha... Wonder how does he feel in my womb? I remembered that in one of my conversation with Hubby B the other day. I told him that Ethan boy sure afraid of me next time cause I am with him most of the times. So he will prefer to stick to his Daddy as Daddy only sees him during the weekend. Hence, he will definitely play & fullfill most of his needs rather than the evil Mummy. Surprisingly, BB said that he will still punish Ethan boy if he is naughty!

Well, as times go by, I feel that it is not easy to raise up a kid. You need lots of patience and passion throughout their growing journey. I must admit that I am not really a patience person. Recently, my 4 years old nephew KJ doesn't like to do his homework. Whenever we asked him to do his homework, he will give the excuse that he wants his mum to guide him. This 2 days, I have insisted him to finish his homework himself. He will ask his Grandma to hold his hand to write or he will just play with his stationary. I couldn't stand his attitude & scolded him. He cried terribly without any reason. I don't even hit on him. He knows how to write the word but he is just being lazy and lost of concentration. It is hurt to scold him but I just couldn't help it. I guess he didn't feel good too. What are we suppose to do le?? Or we should just let him be and enjoy his entire childhood? Sigh.....Will Ethan feel hurt to see his Mummy behave so furious towards his cousin brother?
